Online IVF consultations for international patients: do they work?

Yes: patients go on to treatment about as often after an online first consultation as after one in person.

Do they start treatment?

Within 90 days, 34.0% did after a telemedicine first visit and 35.4% after an in-person one (Soltesz et al., 2021).

Do they get pregnant?

Ongoing pregnancy was 44.4% after a telehealth first visit and 47.1% after an in-person one, with no difference after adjustment (Willson et al., 2025).

What is the catch?

Patients seen online first were less likely to finish their tests, so send the list and follow it up.

Are patients happy with it?

Satisfaction was 82.0% online and 87.0% in person, not a significant difference (Pollie et al., 2026).
