How does an IVF clinic in Spain get international patients?
Most come for anonymous egg donation, and most come from France and Italy.
How many come?
In 2021, 22,010 treatment cycles in Spain were for patients living abroad, and half of them were egg donation (Registro SEF, 2021).
Where from?
France 40.6%, Italy 21.2%, the UK 6.3% and Germany 5.6% of those cycles.
What brings them?
Donors stay anonymous by law, and treatment is open to every woman over 18, married or not, of any orientation (Ley 14/2006).
What do they search?
"IVF in Spain for foreigners", "IVF Spain age limit" and "egg donation Spain".
What should you answer up front?
- Your age limit, since the law sets none.
- That donors stay anonymous.
- That one donor can account for at most six children born in Spain.
- Which languages your team speaks.
