How can an IVF clinic abroad get patients from France?
French patients go abroad because of waiting lists at home, and they ask who pays before they ask which clinic.
Why do they travel?
In 2025 the wait averaged 17.7 months for donor sperm and 22 months for egg donation (Agence de la biomédecine).
Age is the second reason: egg collection stops at the 43rd birthday and treatment at the 45th (Service-Public).
What do they search?
« PMA à l'étranger », with remboursement, CPAM and ameli.
Will their insurer pay for treatment abroad?
Only with prior authorisation from the CNSE, which decides within 14 days (ameli.fr), so send them to their insurer and promise nothing.
What do they need from you?
- A quote in their name that states the technique, sent fast, because it goes into their request.
- Whether your donors are anonymous: in France, since 1 September 2022, a donor's identity can be passed on to the adult born from the donation.
