How does an IVF clinic in Portugal get international patients?
Portugal treats single women and female couples, and a donor-conceived adult can learn the donor's name.
Who can you treat?
Couples of different sex or of two women, and every woman of 18 or over, married or not (Lei 32/2006, article 6).
What are the donor rules?
At 18, a person born from a donation can learn the donor's full name (article 15).
Who is that good for?
Patients who want their child to be able to know the donor, and single women and female couples from countries that exclude them, such as the Czech Republic.
What should you answer up front?
- Your age limit, since the law sets none.
- That donors can be identified once the child is 18.
- Which languages your team speaks.
